I have no idea how much bread would equate to 8 oz.  The type of bread you are eating would make a difference too.  And at Subway, you have a wide variety of toppings to choose from.  If you are eating the high fat ones like Mayo, that could delay the absorption of carbs.  I can eat at Subway with no problem, except that I don’t like their food. — Type 2 http://users.bestweb.net/~jbove/

half of a 1 pound loaf!  LOL, no wonder the BG hitsa the roof. — Ronnie Ruff So shines a good deed in a weary world.                        –Willy Wonka– I pray for the power. To turn it around. There are a lot of good info on the internet. I searched for the caloric content of food and found this link.   Lots of other ones. Look at http://www.saskschools.ca/~science10/foodunit/calories.html Then I searched for Subway.  Look at the following link.  It is a PDF file for the actual chart. http://www.subway.com/applications/NutritionInfo/index.aspx These sites provide a lot of food data.                                 Guy

G’day E.W, For sake of interest I looked at a wholemeal loaf made from Canadian wheat.  It is relatively unexceptional, 38% carbs. Food Name        GI  Serving (g) Carb/Serve(g)    Glycemic load (g) Wholemeal bread  64    30          11.4               7.3 Put simply for every 30 grams of bread you eat 7.3 grams of glucose ends up in your blood stream.    8 ounces = 225 grams. That 8 ounces of bread shoved 55 grams of glucose into your blood stream. That’s quite a hit.  By way of comparison consider this. To relieve hypoglycemia a standard treatment is two 5 gram glucose tablets. That is a 10 gram glucose push. One day when you get a handle on all of this you’ll probably look back and laugh at having eaten enough bread to give a 55 gram glucose hit. After all you could have a blood transfusion and save four hypoglycemic friends. >Yet if I buy a footlong BMT at Subway ( I have no fiancial intrest in Subway) > my Bg may go to 120 or so. My guess is the subway rolls are LIGHTER.   The real question is what are you going to choose tomorrow? I can’t tell you how much glucose at one time is right for you. As we often say, YMMV, your mileage may vary.  There will be a glucose push that is right for you and you’ll discover what that is and sticking to it will all come naturally to you after a while. Now, now, now…I think I reworded that. It WAS a bit harsh for our male readership. As a Doberman adorer, please give Alex a big, apologetic hug and tell him I shall refrain from being so descriptive in the future. He was NOT the only one so affected.  I guess subtlety has it’s advantages! In any event… Best Meredith

Asking questions and expecting tolerant answers is a way to learn, as we all must do in life. I don’t think it is a stupid question at all.     I would say that in all probability your beagle DOES indeed have two testicles, although one is probably retained within the abdomen as opposed to being where it is supposed to be…in the scrotum. This means that the dog needs to have (usually) 2 incisions when neutered so that the offending testicle can be found and yanked out of the abdominal cavity. Well, yanked is such a harsh word. Hi, Well, I have a 6 month old male beagle and for some weird reason, I just found out that it has only a single testicle. Gee, my male cocker spaniel has two.. So is anything wrong with the beagle ? Or it is no real cause for concern? This might be a stupid question, but I have no answer on my end.. Thanks in advance. — Batch Process Images with Batch It! Sounds like your dog is a cryptorchid. The undescended testicle is at increased risk for testicular cancer. I recommend that you have him neutered soon ( he is of age now). If you are thinking about breeding him, it is STRONGLY not recommended. Cryptorchidism is highly hereditary. Ty, DVM Edwin Lau wrote;

Ok my dog is my first male dog. He has this green discharge from his penis. I was given a gel medication to put in there. My vet had said it was pretty normal in males, but I wouldn’t know. Well the medicine seemed to have worked, but the problem came back. I want to know if anyone knows what this is and is it normal? Courtney
