One afternoon my two dogs Fidget (a cockapoo) Toby (a Maltese) were lying on the floor next to my chair and one of them farted.  They simultaneously turned around to look at their rear ends with this distinct "What was *that*?!?" expression on their faces.  I laughed out loud, and wished I’d had a camera handy. To respond to the original poster, Toby will usually let out a huge belch for such a small dog within five minutes of finishing his dinner. Which is funny because he doesn’t gulp his food down in a hurry like Fidget does! — Kevin Michael Vail | a billion stars go spinning through the night, . . . . . . . . .  | But _in_ you is the presence that  . . . . . . . . . | will be, when all the stars are dead.  (Rainer Maria Rilke)

Mine do the same. After they eat dinner, they come to give me a kiss followed by a belch. — -Andrea

Response:

Our husky often burps after eating his dinner and it seems like he’s making room for more … we give him his Glycolflex pills followed by a small dog treat after his dinner so it’s like he’s making room for that. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > Everytime my dog drinks water, or eats something he will burp like he just > guzzled down a can of beer. > It’s funny that when company is over they always think it’s me. > Is there something wrong, or is it normal just like us human folk? > Mark

Mine like to come over and give you a burp after they’ve eaten a particularly tasty meal.  I think they are trying to share the smell and say THANKs in their own way. Lea www.shepherdrescue.org

Hey…..I have a GSD. They like to "share" their burps (as in walk right up to you as though they have something important to say…..and belch right in your face) I just hold my breath and consider myself appreciated when he shares the airy recollection of his latest snack. Sort of like he’s saying "Thanks Mom" (at least he’s not a farter….that’s all I can say….) Tara

I think it is a sign of affection! ;-) My dogs always eat their meals and then come and sit their heads in my lap and belch. I think they are saying, "Thanks for the good meal, mum," in the nicest way they can. Jenn

Hi, Nope, nothing wrong.  The dog just gulps air when he’s eating and drinking.  My Sophie sometimes farts when other people are around. It always cracks me up, so to speak.  It’s pretty obvious that she did it because she tries to find out where the noise came from even though it came from her behind.  Just another wonderful fun filled part of dog ownership. Hello Tara, Excuse me, I erred. I thought you was tara o, our lying dog abusing Boxer Rescue Thug. Perhaps you might change your screen name to Jerry and you won’t be mistaken for a dog abuser. Jerry.

Everytime my dog drinks water, or eats something he will burp like he just guzzled down a can of beer. It’s funny that when company is over they always think it’s me. Is there something wrong, or is it normal just like us human folk? Mark
