Well, I’ll say this…I am a fiscal conservative, and a liberal on many social issues…I vote Libertarian lately. That said, IMO, Bill O’Reilly is a self-serving show-biz cunt. If CNN gave him a deal that paid him more than his current deal, he would flip and be similarly pro-Left. Notice the special diatribes he reserves for those who do not do his show…far more vehement and petty than those about with he expresses his disagreement. See, it’s all about *his show*. He is about *his show*. Period. He may *say* some things that resonate with Conservatives, and perhaps more often than he says things that resonate with Liberals, but it is all about his show, nothing more. Bill O’Reilly is a symptom of show biz, nothing more. If one wants well-crafted, thoughtful, conservative opinions, one would read George Will, Chris Hitchens, Victor David Hanson, or even Pat Buchanan (have ya read ‘Where the Right Went Wrong’?) Like the Democrat party, there are differences of opinion among Conservatives. But Bill O’Reilly is nothing more than an opportunistic, show-biz, self-serving, nattering tool. He wants to be Rush, but he does not have the chops, nor the conviction. For Liberals to site O’Reilly as somehow important only highlights that the Liberals (not ‘liberal’ at all) can not differentiate between an opportunistic parrot and a writer who carefully considers and writes a Conservative opinion that is well-researched, and has a integrity that goes deeper than the fax message of the day. In that way, Bill O’Reilly serves a purpose for the right….he makes the Left look like idiots for all of their sound and fury against him. Honestly, I watched Boxer on CSPAN on the raw feed. She should be ashamed….beyond all of the statements you made, her statements directed at Rice were among the most offensive I have seen on CSPAN. Boxer is clearly far more a devotee of her tribe than a conduit of the truth. OTOH, underneath all of it, there were conclusions that Rice arrived at that were based on imperfect intelligence, and perhaps Boxer’s implications were just part of the net political cost of such. Actually, I’d be surprised if that were not understood by both parties. It’s clear to every observer that Boxer’s mud-slinging was not intended to do anything except to *technically*, and on record, denigrate an appointee of the opposing party…sand in the wheels of anything Republican. There will be more of it, no doubt. Desperation is like that. Any appointment made by Dubya involving a member of a minority is done first based on blind allegiance to Dubya’s agenda and then to present Repuklicans as champions of the rights of minorities at large.
