indoor swimming for dogs?
Question:
I have also reay articles about aquatherapy (hydrotherapy?) for dogs – mostly in big cities, I think, and fairly expensive. Wish I could remember where I saw it (it was a while ago, and I have CRS). Good luck Dorothy, owned by C.C., a very spoiled dachshund

Rick, Fortunately, at this time neither of our 2 dogs have any symptons of Degenerative Myelopathy (Canine Multiple Sclerosis). Thanks a million for posting the link to the site: sss.mzif.com , it’s amazing, and quite informative. I’ve bookmarked it, and also noticed the only ‘doggie-therapy-pool’ in the entire state of Illinois is about 10 minutes from our home. Thanks again for this useful information. — * HAPPY HOLIDAYS * Gale L. Wauconda, ILL 1 Border Collie + 1 Springer Spaniel

Thanks, Rick! Nothing listed in TN but I’ll get on the phone next week. Kate

My 5 yr old mix (pit bull, great dane?, water dog, retriever etc etc) has just (today) been diagnosed with hip dysplasia. Several sites I’ve seen have suggested swimming as an excellant exercise. Well, it’s a warm spell here – went into the forties – but Bear is a wallower, not a swimmer, so to get him to swim, I’ll have to swim as well. Are there actually places that allow dogs to swim indoors? Will my local Y laugh if I call and ask? (I think they will….) Peace, Kate

They will laugh *and* they will not allow it. Try any local equestrian centers, clubs, or horse training/conditioning facilities. The pools are set up for exactly what you describe, though you do not swim along….. the water is vile looking. — Toni http://www.irish-wolfhounds.com
