skin tags
Question:
Anyone ever had a dog that developed skin tags? What causes those? They look like tiny pieces of rice but are skin and they don’t appear to be filled with any puss or liquid, but a fatty substance. I picked one off of her and it bled 4-5 drops of blood. Anyway to get rid of them,..they seem to be cropping up all the time now and they’re all over her now. Allen
Response:
allen i havent heard of this on a dog but imagine it depends on maybe the breed. but if so they are harmless and you can either remove them with a sharp blade and some stop bleeding they use or even pressure and ice . on people they will just tie a string on them til they fall of but on a dog who chews everything you cant as swallowing the strings would be harmful. either way i dont think it s a big worry but you can ask your vet to be sure. i am not a vet and cant see the dog so you see you may need confirmation from the vet then. wait til you get old and get a few—lol
Response:
Don’t pick them off. They are skin and it hurts to have them picked off. jdoee – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > Anyone ever had a dog that developed skin tags? What causes those? Response:
My dog has one or two skin tags and my vet says to just leave them. C.C. leaves them alone, so I’m assuming they don’t bother her Dorothy, owned by C.C., a very spoiled dachshund

First time I became concerned about these, off I went to the vet. The elderly, well respected vet had a look and promptly nipped them off with his thumb nail. Job done.

Skin tags on dogs are the same as skin tags on humans….silly looking, but usually harmless.

Skin tabs are perianal tags of skin. They can be confused and may in some cases be related to external hemorrhoids. They are characteristic of Crohn’s disease and have been termed "elephant ears." In some we have studied, dilated lymphatic vessels were found. They are ususally not removed and hence not available for study. Sometimes a "sentinel pile" develops in relation to an anal fissure. The latter is usually the source of pain. Of note, in Crohn’s disease, anal fissures can be painless. I would suspect that the intermittent pain you notice with this tag may be related to an associated fissure. N. Hi, I’ve had skin tags and the doctor banded them.. he put a small elastic around it to cut off the blood flow.. It worked very well. the tag fell off after a few days… but it seems to have come back.. so I’ll be seeing my doctor again soon.. check it out with your doctor, it was done right in his office, I’m not sure if he’ll do it if your crohns is active, mine was in remission at the time.. good luck. a fellow sufferer… Sylvie – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > I’ve not seen it here but does anyone suffer from skin tags. Marcia: My husband (who doesn’t have any digestive problems at all) has these things. They are skin tags, and they tend to be hereditary and happen along with age. If they get really annoying they can be easily removed at your doctor’s office. They’re not dangerous or anything, just annoying. -Beth

I get these dreaded skin tags (small skin growths) under my arms. My dermatologist has to zap them with electricity and he can’t explain why they form. Why do skin tags form? What can remove them quickly using natural products? I am a very healthy guy, so I don’t have much to complain about. But these stupid skin tags aggravate me. HELP!!! — "If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. There are some warts which resemble skin tags. If they keep coming back, it could be warts which are caused by a virus. You should see another doctor for a second opinion. Gen Baugher

Yes, but your dermatologist can say "sign of Leser-Trelat". Can you say that paul? Sure, sure you can . . . — nim

Like I said Paul, can you say sign of Leser-Trelat? Evidently Gen has heard of it. Gosh I hope you don’t REALLY take care of patients. Anyway to really answer your question Gen – there IS a difference between "warts", skin tags (achrocordon), seborrheic keratoses, and many other skin protuberances. Your primary care provider (nurse, PA, MD) should be able to tell the differnce. New crops of seborrheic keratoses may be a harbinger of underlying neoplasm. This is unlikley the case for longstanding achrocordon. Buzz away if they bother ya. Do you concur, Paul? Gosh I hope so. — nim(b)ly yours

I had an uncle who had little bags of skin that hung down like small worms on his upper arms, under his arms, and on his upper torso. He was very fat and had diabetes. He dropped dead at age 50 of a heart attack so whether he harbored cancer or not, who knows? I noticed a couple of them under my arms some time ago. I pinched them off with my fingernails and they didn’t grow back. So, maybe they are inherited and just in the genes? — Free report: ARE FREE RADICALS STEALING YOUR HEALTH?

Try applying 8% Hydrogen Peroxide for a few days. Steve
