Question:
It really is a hoot. It’s a 1966 Disney, so you know it’s also "clean". And it is fun watching the dogs & their shenanigans. So if you want a nice, light, laughy movie, go for it. The Ugly Dachshund (I had to look it up to get the spelling right). bj "Memory" … – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> No, Bj but I guess I better go rent it….

I thought it was a Dobie; I have one, a black and tan; sweetest thing, biggest baby, as are all the other Dobies I’ve met. ares

I remember many years ago in the late sixties when I was interested in purchasing dogs, I was advised not to get a doberman because of their propensity to turn on their owners, I got a German Shepherd who was a down and out coward, I wonder why people buy dogs like the dobermans, pitt bulls and rottweillers, Arent they afraid of them? Second-hand story. In 1971 my GF’s father bought her sister a VW camper as a graduation present. She had always wanted to tour the US upon finishing college. As a concession to her mother’s fears for her "baby" traveling alone, a very expensive trained doberman was obtained from a _very_ reputable trainer/kennel near their home in Scarsdale, NY. This was against my better judgement and I argued _strongly_ for a GS instead, but she selected the dobie based on looks and the fact that it was smaller than a GS and would fit into the camper better. After completing 30 days of familiarization and training together, they departed for points west. Approx. 60 days later while camped in the UP of Michigan, she awoke to the dog growling and bristling AT HER! As she attempted to sit up in the bed, the dog attacked her, injuring her severely on the face, chest, hands and arms. She was able to grab a steak knife from the small sink, fought the dog off and exited the vehicle, trapping the dog inside. The dog was dispatched by a park ranger. An autopsy on the dog found a brain tumor that was probably the cause of the attack, although she swore that the dog hadn’t exhibited any odd behavior in the days preceding it. It required 284 stitches to close all of her wounds and, even after several surgeries by some of the finest plastic surgeons in NYC, she is still scarred for life. IMHO dobies are fatally overbred. BBQ is a hobby of mine and I post frequently on a text and binary BBQ group. I intended for the pictures to go there. The dog is a Doberman Pinscher almost 12 weeks old. I picked him up yesterday. He is a red/rust colored Doberman. Bruce Cook

Loretta, You weren’t supposed to see the dog at all. I think the guy posted in the wrong group… It struck me as funny… I kept trying to read some hidden message such as it was a "Pit" fighting dog that he was putting on the auction block…. and the barbecue thingy was just a ruse…. Alas the dog didn’t look like a pit bull…but go figure. A parent of one of my students wanted to give me a dashund puppy once….but she couldn’t fool me. It had German Shepherd FEET :) ! Memory
