A very sad day in my home…
Question:
> law only permits the dog be >shot and its the owners fault
And what law is this? Where do you live? There is now a law in effect in NY (and I thought other states as well) that you can do jail time and pay a hefty fine for intentionally harming and/or killing a dog. Debbie

is a jerk and both dogs will suffer now. Gee, maybe if know you have coyotes in your area, it just might be a good idea to keep your cats in??? Sure, go shoot that old coyote, that will fix things. And then if another one gets another one of your cats (if you have more) you can shoot him too! Debbie

sorry vladimir to hear this. you know if a dog is tied up and accidently gets loose then i forgive the dog but if the owner constantly lets it loose then you have to take measures. this dog will kill again to be sure and must be caged in a yard situation at all times either way. dogs can kill without even realizing it as if they bite etc and the dog is small it doeesnt stand a chance. i am very sorry for you little dog. the owner is careless. i just read your other two postings and if you are absolutely sure that dog has attacked other dogs and the owner didnt do anything about that then you are right you have to do something. i must say to you though that doesnt mean in any way it would attack a child as i have had 50 dogs of all breeds in my lifetime and not one would attack a child but would other dogs. esp. a male that is not neutered and is of the breeding of a dominant male or female. sorry to say. but they woudlnt harm a human child. so dont believe that. but i know how irresponsible some owners are and they dont give a dam and then allowing the dog to do this it will cost the dog its life as if it does this repeatidly then it is doomed. too bad i feel that the owner should be shot instead.. law only permits the dog be shot and its the owners fault. but as i say if you are absolutely sure it has attacked other dogs and the owner wont tie the dog up then you have no choice i feel. i have neighbors like that and i have 17 dogs and these jerks wont tie their one dog up and i have to tie all of mine up. people are not respectful of other peoples properties i would not allow my dog on anyone elses properties whether i had one or 17. if my one dog got loose i would be so upset i would go crazy and run after the dog and bring it home. dogs will be dominant and some will attack if scared or if the dog bites them first out of fear and i always worry about that. but to me if the owner doesnt give a dam then you have no choice. only problem here is that this owner may go out and buy another dog and not being tied up well then it will happen again. he needs to be fined and told he must tie the dog up.—– i do feel sorry for the large dog but you know when someone kills the dog y ou love you only care for your dogs survival and i cant blame you there. i recently saw a coyote kill my cat. he didnt have a chance and now i hate the coyote and will kill it on site. –wish he hadnt dont that to me—–i know its is his nature but i loved my cat and i will kill the coyote if i see it. my gun is ready and i am ready if i see him so you see i do understand. too bad you cant move the dog somewhere. like even take it to the dog catcher if it comes in your yard again and then let them handle the situation. takes the responsiblity off of you. sorry to hear about your dog. it was your property and the owner is a jerk and both dogs will suffer now.

well, that shepher is a mad dog, he had attacked my father already in the past, and also some other neighbours, so i see no other solution that getting rid of him now even I am affraid to go there, as he might even attack me…. he has also killed 3(or even 4, i’m not sure) other dogs…. and the owner will not have the right to take revenge on me, it was his fault, everything was his fault….he MUST NOT let loose a dog that is a pottential threat either to people or dogs! it is no one elses responsibility but the owners!

I really hope you will calm down a bit before doing anything. First of all, many dogs, like sheps, are not good with SMALL dogs or animals. It does not mean that they are not WONDERful with children, and unless you know how this particular dog is with children..do not make that assumption. You are angry, hurt, sad, but revenge will not bring your dog back. Take this up with the owner. This dog should not run lose and if he can’t contain it, maybe it should be given to a home that can better handle him…but not destroyed.. Personally, I think any owner of a small breed dog should not let their dog be alone in an unfenced or unsecured yard…for many reasons, this being one of them. You just don’t know who or what will wander into your yard. I am very sorry for your loss, because it had happened a while ago, I thought he was healing and would be ok. What brought the seizure on? I guess it doesn’t matter. Also, realize if you do something to this dog, then you end up getting another dog in the future, can you trust the sheps owner to not then take revenge on you. Please think hard about this, and again, I’m sorry he/she didn’t make it. It’s very very sad. Debbie

It is a very sad thing that you have been through. But please be sensitive to not causing unnecessary hurt on someone else. The person responsible for the shepherd that attacked your dog should certainly learn from this event. . . but that does not mean their pet needs to be killed. It would be very unfortunate to turn this event into one that resulted in two unnecessary deaths. — Mike Fry Animal Ark No-Kill Shelter A no-kill shelter because pets aren’t disposable http://www.animalarkshelter.org (651) 772-8983 (Shelter) (612) 590-1868 (Direct)

no, i don’t think so! if it happened once, to my dog, why wouldn’t it happen to say, 10 other dogs? because, i know, the shepherd has attacked some more dogs in the neighbourhood too… we’ll send hunters and they’ll kill him, because he is a danger not only for other dogs, but imagine there was a baby of 3-4 years walking there! the dog must be destroyed, in order to prevent him from making some more lives misserable as mine is now! anyway, the owner doesn’t care much about his animal if he lets him off leash all the time, knowing how dangerous he is, and hunters in my country whenever they see a big, dangerous dog off leash, especially when they were summoned to a specific site to see the situation… i’ll say to them whare that is, they’ll come and handle the situation

Unfortunately, my poor dog didn’t manage to recover from the injuries he received…. It has been said that my dog was not only bitten by the german shepherd, but also stept on…. He died today at 4 PM, at my home, he came from the vet, suffering a ceisure, that the vet managed to stop giving him som meds, that made him sleep….after that the vet said that he could still survive, but not likely….he was taken home, and he died sleeping, so at least he wasn’t suffering. My mother noticed he stopped breathing, and quickly drove him to the vet but it was already too late…. So, a word of warning: if you have small dogs, like was mine, please be careful when you encounter big dogs, although my dog was attacked at my own yard…. I will now see to it that the shepherd will be put to sleep, so he will not be able to hurt other dogs. Thank you all, who expressed symapthy for my dog, it’s really hard for me now, but life must go on… Goodbye
