Miniature Yorkshire Terrier in Atlanta, Georgia
Question:
Call the Atlanta Kennel Club (phone number is in the phone book) for a referral to a reputable breeder. From what I understand, the more reputable breeders of the toy breeds will not sell their puppies at 8 weeks but wait until at least 10+ weeks. That is probably something you will want to discuss with the breeders along with what health tests they do on the dogs prior to breeding them. I would suggest that you do alot of research before deciding on a breeder and please realize that the breeders who advertise in the AJC newspaper are often puppymillers, and not reputable breeders. Of course, the puppies at the local pet stores are also produced by puppymills. (By the way, there is no such thing as a miniature yorkshire terrier.) If you would consider adopting an adult yorkie, you can give us a call at 770-587-1571 as we often get them in. -Susan Feingold Pet Orphans Rescue http://www.petorphans.com – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – ><Sorry for posting this message in this newsgroup if I was not suppose >to > >Hello, > I would like to purchase a Miniature Yorkshire Terrier (8 >weeks old male puppy). Hi here… I think you have some more research to do before you are ready for the puppy of your dreams (remember…you’re preparing to take in a life that may well last 10 years or more). A Yorkshire terrier is a "miniature" breed (as opposed to a giant, large or medium breed). and is well at the end of the dog size scale. A "miniature yorkie" would be unimaginable small. And so hard to breed that puppies must be exceptionally expensive. I’m hoping you want a well bred Yorkshire terrier and have not fallen into the trap of believing a disreputable breeder who has told you they are breeding "true, full blooded miniature yorkies". There is no such dog. I think if you search the internet for the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America, or the American Kennel Club (AKC) <http://www.akc.org> you will find enough information to make an educated choice. Perhaps you’ll find that a rescued yorkie is the perfect dog for your family, or perhaps another breed would be better. Remember…a dog is much more than it’s size. And its best to take your time and choose the right dog, of the right breed, from the most *responsible* breeder you can, for your best interest, and your dogs. If I can be of more help in finding the right dog, or more general dog info, please let me know. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > <Sorry for posting this message in this newsgroup if I was not suppose > to > > Hello, > I would like to purchase a Miniature Yorkshire Terrier (8 > weeks old male puppy).
